Vladimir’s January ’25 Q&A

1–2 minutes

I look forward to this all month – the question and answer session with Vladimir, Valerie and about 50 others.

The sessions are either “free flow” in that people will submit questions from all walks of life, often jumping from topic to topic. Yesterday was unique in that it was focused on one thing. Cold water dousing.

Cold water dousing has a long and celebrated history of being used for a variety of reasons. It has become quite popular over the past few years for assisting people lose fat and helping athletes recover more quickly.

Here is a list of the 5 major benefits:

Here are five:

  1. Improved Circulation: Cold water can stimulate blood flow as the body works to warm itself. This increases circulation, delivering more oxygen and nutrients to muscles and tissues.
  2. Reduced Inflammation: Immersing the body in cold water can help reduce muscle soreness, inflammation, and swelling after intense physical activity, which is why it’s popular among athletes.
  3. Enhanced Immune System: Regular exposure to cold water may boost the immune system by increasing the production of white blood cells, which help fight infections.
  4. Increased Mental Alertness: Cold water exposure can activate the sympathetic nervous system, leading to heightened alertness, improved mood, and reduced stress levels.
  5. Improved Skin and Hair Health: Cold water can tighten pores, reduce oil production on the skin, and promote shinier, healthier hair by making the cuticle layer of hair lay flat.

There are very few contraindications for this type of therapy. The only 2 that comes to mind are:

(1) Those who have heart issues, particularly a history of heart attacks. The “shock” of even drinking cold water can be a problem yet alone jumping into 40 or 50 degree water. (2) Those suffering from illness characterized by excessive shivering and chills. The former is typically chronic while the latter, acute.

Other than that, it is clearly beneficial for the vast majority of people.

These sessions are also so interesting. People ask questions I never would have thought and Vladimir is a continual source of inspiring, detailed answers. It is always one of the highlights of the month!
